Hey there! We’re glad you’re here. Before you dive in, here’s the quick version:

  • Be cool. You’re welcome to hang out, explore, and share your thoughts — just keep things respectful, helpful, and spam-free.
  • Your stuff is yours. You own what you post, but if you share something publicly (like in forums, comments, or community challenges), we may display or feature it in ways that make the platform more useful for everyone.
  • Our stuff is ours. All Functioning Human content — courses, guides, illustrations, code, and Future Map — belongs to us. You can share non-commercially with credit, but please don’t copy or resell it.
  • The SaaS thing: Future Map helps you organize goals, milestones, and AI-powered insights. Use it wisely, and remember that AI advice is for informational purposes only — not financial, legal, or medical guidance.
  • Buying or subscribing? All sales and subscriptions are final. Cancel anytime before renewal.
  • Keep it human. We’re building a space that runs on curiosity, kindness, and progress — not perfection.

Welcome to Functioning Human (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using functioninghuman.com (the “Site”) or any related services, apps, or tools — including Future Map, our SaaS goal-planning and AI-powered platform (collectively, the “Service”) — you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”).

If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or Service.

1. Use of Site & Services

You may use our Site and Services for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • Interfere with, damage, or disrupt the Site or its servers.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or reproduce any part of our systems or code.
  • Use the Service to store or share illegal, infringing, or harmful content.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time without notice.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Site or Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

2. Future Map Platform (SaaS Use)

a. License

When you create a Future Map account, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the platform.

b. AI Tools & Advice

Future Map may include AI-generated content (such as milestones, suggestions, summaries, or recommendations). These outputs are informational only and not professional, financial, legal, or medical advice. You’re solely responsible for how you use them.

c. Data & Privacy

We store your information (like milestones, snapshots, and usage data) securely and process it under our Privacy Policy. We may use third-party providers such as Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, and Vercel to operate the Service. You can delete your account at any time, though some anonymized or aggregated data may remain for analytics and system improvement. We are not obligated to retain or restore account data after deletion. We may analyze anonymized usage data to improve the Service, including product features and AI systems.

d. Beta & Experimental Features

Some features — including AI assistants, referrals, or progress tracking — may be labeled “beta.” These may change or stop working at any time without notice.

e. AI Feature Use

You agree not to misuse AI-powered features, attempt to extract system prompts or proprietary logic, bypass safeguards, or use the Service to generate unlawful, harmful, abusive, or infringing content.

3. User Accounts & Community

Creating an account is optional, but some features—such as commenting or participating in forums—may require registration. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activities under your account.

By posting or submitting public content on the Site (including comments, forums, or community discussions), you grant Functioning Human a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, and moderate your content.

We reserve the right to remove or edit user content at our discretion, and to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms or our community guidelines.

4. Community Guidelines

We’re building a supportive, smart, and safe space for functional humans. By participating in our community, you agree to:

  • Be respectful and constructive
  • Feel free to disagree, but no personal attacks
  • Refrain from posting content that is violent, hateful, dangerous, or discriminatory
  • Avoid spamming, promotional content, or self-promotion without permission

Violations may result in content removal or account termination without notice.

5. Purchases, Subscriptions & Payments

a. Products

Products (like downloads, courses, or merch) may be fulfilled by third-party partners. All sales are final. We’re not responsible for shipping delays or issues beyond our control.

b. Subscriptions

Future Map and other digital services may offer free and paid plans.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the next billing cycle.
  • We do not issue prorated refunds for partial periods.
  • Discounts, credits, and referral rewards have no cash value.

Billing is handled through Stripe or another secure payment processor.

c. Taxes

We currently collect sales tax only in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as required by law.

6. Feedback & Suggestions

We love hearing your ideas! By submitting feedback or suggestions, you grant us permission to use them freely and without obligation or attribution.

7. Intellectual Property

All original content on the Site—including articles, downloads, images, and designs—is the property of Functioning Human and protected under copyright law.

You may share short excerpts of our content for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution and a clear link back to functioninghuman.com. Republishing full articles, course materials, illustrations, downloads, or platform functionality is not permitted without express written permission.

8. Third-Party Services

Our Site uses third-party services, including payment processors (e.g., Stripe), analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics), advertising networks, embedded tools (e.g., YouTube videos), and hosting providers (e.g. Vercel).

By using the Site, you also agree to those services’ terms and privacy policies, where applicable.

9. Disclaimer

All content and tools are provided “as is” and for educational and informational purposes only. We make no guarantees of accuracy, reliability, or suitability. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that use of the Service will lead to any specific results, outcomes, or personal achievements. Use of the Site and Service is at your own risk. Functioning Human is not responsible for any loss, damage, or consequences resulting from reliance on our content or AI outputs.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Functioning Human and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any data loss or interruption of service.

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to outages, third-party service disruptions, natural events, or infrastructure failures.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or misuse of the platform. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.

13. Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We’ll post changes on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
