Community Guidelines

Functioning Human is built for people trying to figure things out in real life. That means curiosity, honesty, and sometimes a little messiness. It also means we need to keep the space respectful and constructive for everyone.

These guidelines help make sure the community stays helpful, thoughtful, and human.

Community guidelines

Be respectful

People come here from different backgrounds and experiences. Disagreement is fine — personal attacks are not.

Please:

  • Be constructive and thoughtful in discussions
  • Assume good intentions when possible
  • Focus on ideas rather than attacking people

Harassment, bullying, or hateful language directed at individuals or groups is not allowed.

Keep things helpful

The goal of Functioning Human is to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas that help people navigate real life.

Try to:

  • Share things that are useful or thoughtful
  • Ask genuine questions
  • Add context when offering advice or suggestions

Low-effort or intentionally disruptive comments may be removed.

No spam or self-promotion

The community isn’t a place for advertising, affiliate promotion, or unrelated links. That means:

  • No spam
  • No promotional posts
  • No dropping links purely to drive traffic

If you have something genuinely helpful to share, context matters — but promotional behavior will be removed.

Respect privacy

Do not share personal information about yourself or others that shouldn’t be public.

Remember that posts and comments may be visible to other users, so think carefully before sharing sensitive details.

No harmful or illegal content

Content that promotes violence, harassment, discrimination, illegal activity, or dangerous behavior is not allowed.

This includes attempts to exploit or misuse the platform.

Moderation

Functioning Human is moderated to keep the space constructive and safe.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these guidelines or the Terms of Service.

Moderation decisions are made at our discretion and may occur without prior warning.

A quick reminder

Nobody here has life perfectly figured out. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s progress.

Be curious. Be kind. Share what you’ve learned.

That’s how the community works.
